We just started our PTO this school year. I would like to apply to be a tax-exempt charitable organization. I don't know what to do. I down-loaded IRS form 1024; is that correct? I can't get anywhere over the phone. They keep bouncing me back and forth between Federal IRS and the State Taxation Department. I don't know what to do! I can't even figure out the lingo; I must be asking for the wrong thing. Can anybody help?
