Getting rid of board members

Even if the allegations against this girl are true, the Board member went about it the wrong way, trashing her reputation, etc. Seems very unprofessional to me. We are adults and need to act as such, especially in our dealings with children and especially when we hold positions that deal with schools and children.
Good Luck!

I'm posting a sample letter that I made up, but I would suggest telling this woman in person first. Not just you, but you and the principal or School Board rep. The letter should just be to back it up with copies going into the records. I feel for you, this can become a nasty situation and one I wouldn't want to be a part of. Could her allegations against the student be true? Has she had a chance to bring her "case" to the principal or the school board? Just trying to look at all the sides involved!

Anyway, best of luck with this one.

Here goes my feeble attempt...

Dear XXX,

Due to your unfortunate involvement in accusations made against a student, your conflict with the parents and school board, and your lack of committment to your elected position on our PTO board we are requesting your immediate resignation.

We have a board member who one is not doing her job and has failed to show up for all but one board meeting and several events that she was in charge of. Our bylaws state that any member that misses two meetings can be voted off. Our last board meeting she came running in just as the vote was about to take place with a sob story about why she hadn't done her job. The board tabled the motion to remove her. Since that meeting she has accused a student in the school of some horriable things basicly because this student made the cheerleading team and her daughter didn't. She trashed this student reputation to couches and other parents etc. The student's parents are obvisouly upset and doing what they can about the situation. While the only way that the PTO is involved in this situation is that unfortunataly this woman is on the board. The school board has said that she needs to be removed from our board. I have to write a letter to her saying in short "sorry your fired". Does anyone have a sample letter of this type that they will share with me?
