VICE PREZ not pulling her weight

Crzy - I would talk to her about it. You are in the position as President to make sure your second in command is up to the task. Currently we have a husband and wife team and President and Vice President. He's never there (primarily runs the meetings) and she's at the school but usually refers people to me (the secretary) for answers. Our request for 501 c 3 status went out in April and we are still trying to get it. I had it done, the Pres decided to do it and well, we don't have it yet. So I know where you are coming from. I'm to the point that I may resign after finishing up chairing our biggest fundraiser. Primarily because I'm tired of stepping in and doing while others sit back. I would just ask her if she is interested this position and tell her what the duties are. If she's not then try to find someone that is yet untapped. We've found several volunteers this year that were just unsure of what was expected of them last year. Good luck!!!

Hi no she never had attended a meeting or volunteered at an event before, but she was a regular volunteer in her sons class, thats how her name came to us in the 1st place.

After the election I saw her at a sports events (my son & hers both played)and told her she won. She just said Oh... Then when I saw her again at a nother sports event she said she was excited & had ideas. We did meet over the summer 2 times & she attended but did not volunteer.... I did tell her she was "in charge" of 1 fundraiser this year but she thought I was joking. All the other officer have had it w/her too.

hi...the fact that this lady was nominated because no one else stepped in and the fact that she didn't show up at the election meeting sounds like warning signs. We have it that if they don't show up for the election meeting they can't be elected. How did she accept the election results if she wasn't there? maybe the best thing to do is sit down with the other officers and come right out and ask her if she wants to be VP. Instead of blaming just explain that maybe she really didnt know what she was getting into etc.Maybe she just doesn't want to help out as much as you would like, or maybe she is so overwhelmed that she just sits back. Was she involved before this?

I am the 2nd year Prez of our PTO this year we have a new Vice, no body else stepped up to be the vice so someone nominated this lady. She did not even show up for the election meeting.

I work very hard for the school & the other officers also help & do more then their share but the Vice never pitches in. She came late, brought her kids & sat quiet at the 1st meeting.

I have emailed her & called her to ask her to do little things to help out like run off papers, make calls etc.. she always has an excuse and says no. Maybe next time... I think this is unfair & that she should resign or pitch in!!! At school events she just says "I'm to busy or to tired to help" but then she shows up and just hangs out with her husband & kids while the rest of us work.

Every day the treasurer & I meet in the parking lot & talk PTA talk while waiting for our kids, the vice never joins in she just walks by and smiles, sometimes I will called her over & ask for help or ask her opinion & she says no to helping & dose not have a opinion... I am getting so fed up. I really need her help.

Maybe she did not know what she was getting into when she took the position, she had never attended a meeting or volunteered.

Should I just let this go on & do all the work myself or should I demand her help??? I need advice. And I really need a VP who will pitch in!!
