PRES. QUIT AND BAD MOUTHING PTO

20 years 11 months ago #98171 by crazyforPTO
I was vice president of our PTO last year. Normally the VP moves to Pres. the year after. However, the current pres. made a huge deal out of it, and decided to continue. All the other officers (myself including) were fed up with her, but she promised tings would be different this time around. Last year the officers only met 3 times, because that way she could do her own things without approval. Even though NOT MUCH AT ALL got done!! I tried to start off the year with fresh slate and gave her the benefit of the doubt. We have met twice already. So at least we are meeting more. But at the meetings she insists on calling everyone, doing all the foot work and co-chairing most of the events. At the next meeting NOTHING has been done!! I am a firm believer a good leader delegates and doesn't have to do all the work herself. In fact it makes her look bad. The board was supposed to meet on Monday. On Sunday night around 7:00 p.m. we all received an email from her saying she had to work and was canceling the meeting. (She doesn't have regular job. She is a substitute teacher.) I check my email very frequently, but most of the other board members don't. I caled them to make sure they knew. The secretary said "why can't we go ahead and meet? I already hired a babysitter and everything!" We weren't supposed to meet until after school anyway, so she could have been there! The Secretaryemailed the principal and told him our frustrations that the year was already begining bad and asked if we could go ahead and meet. He emailed back that I(the VP) could hold the meeting. We had the best meeting we've had in a while!!! We had an agenda for the first time in two years and we got soooo much accomplished! I emailed the pres. that the meeting had gone well and I had asked the secretary to email her the minutes when she got them typed up. The president called me that night and acted really ugly. She then emailed the principal and after meeting with him decided to resign. My problem is she is bad mouthing the PTO all over! (In her phone conversation she even told me she was going to!) She also said she was going to contact all the chairpersons she had chosen and let them know exactly what happened. And tell them she doesn't know if I will want htem or not!! I asked her not to do this, that we should all be adults about this!! I feel like I also need to call the chairpersons. But WHAT SHOULD I SAY!! I have tried not to say anything to anyone about what has happened. Keep in mind these are the people she chose and they may take up for her! I really think the only fair thing to do is still keep all the chairpeople she has already appointed. What do you think!? I am trying to make a horrible situation a little better!!!

THANKS
SORRY IT"S SO LONG!!!
