Anyone who even HAS a PTO office at the school should consider themselves extremely lucky! We have two cabinets in a storage room in which we can keep our supplies, but we don't have a space to call our own. We do have use of any and all supplies and machines, though. I guess it could be worse.

In addition to the necessities (paper, scissors, white out, staplers, etc.) how about adding a table lamp to the decor. If rules allow a candle or two. This makes a room more warm and people can relax while they design that bulletin board or cut out 100 dinos in a limited time.

We have a room like that now that is the "Theater Room" (how snobby does that sound?! lol) and no one likes to watch movies in there or have meetings!

I have always have had luck finding families that are redecorating and willing to recieve a tax dedution for a donation of a well loved living room set....

Hi My kids mom...our room is about 20 feet wide by about 40 feet long. It might not be huge for some schools but when you consider at our school the pto office is actually a closet ...it's huge!! There is no empty room at the inn you could say , so thats why it was a surprised when we got this space. It use to be a locker room, then storage , then latch key. It's just a big empty room waiting to be loved!!

Kinda a goofy question but how big is your room? With all the construction going on at our school we are trying to talk the Building mgr. that this would be a great place for us!!-- I LOVE the idea of having somewhere to go were my kids can play and I can cut-out or prep work for my son's teacher!!! Oh yeah, and not disturb the teacher's class!

As far as decor...don't call Trading Spaces!! lol......unless they can promise Vern Yep or Frank. ;)

How exciting....we got our Parent Volunteer Room last year. It was wonderful. We learned a lot through out the year. We have in our room:

A Parent Resource Area (catalogs, tapes, etc.)
Kids Play Corner
Die Cut Center
PTSO Board/Coordinator In Boxes
Bulletin Board for Upcoming Events
Collection Corner (cartridges, box tops, etc.)
2 Large Work Tables
Supply Center
Teacher Work Order Area (teachers leave work for volunteers)
Shelves for forms, flyers, etc.
etc., etc.

The room has been so great. Many parents who never volunteered before now come into the room because they have a place for the little ones to play. We did learn to make some Task Sheets for the small jobs that need to be done to keep the room in order, ie. take out recyclable paper, garabge, sweep floor, clean kids tables, pick up taoys, re-stock the paper at the die cut center, etc. Sometimes a parents has 20 minutes of time to help out and these jobs are perfect for them.

Hope this helps you!
