Good for y'all for trying. Can I still put my name in the hat for the door prizes or is it too late?

For those of you who hold general meetings each month, and especially those who manage it successfully, you have my admiration!

As I've posted before, my group gave up on general meetings long ago, moving towards a large Board having an open monthly meeting and then only two General Meetings a year - one in May to elect officers and one in August to approve the budget. These two are routinely scheduled before a major class program and last about 10 minutes, so a formality at best.

We have good parent participation, and we've routinely surveyed our parents about this. They overwhelmingly want to keep it as is, although a few have indicated they would like a general meeting with a program once in awhile.

Our president this year decided to try a stand-alone general meeting (last night). She put a lot of work into it, had some good info being presented, lots of doorprizes, elections, advertised it widely, etc.

Besides the Board, only 3 people showed up!

It's good that we tried it rather than just assuming what would happen. But it made me think of you that really put this effort in every month, arranging speakers, and enticing people to attend. I know some of you have great meetings, and I applaud your efforts.

For us, I doubt we'll try it again any time soon.
