Misplaced money

BOY BEING ON THE PTO BOARD CAN BE A HEADACHE.
IF I WERE YOU I WOULD NOT GO TO THE EXPENSE OF STOPPING PAYMENT ON THE CHECKS. NO ONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO CASH THEM ANYWAY IF THEY WERE MADE OUT T THE ORGANIZATION. WORK WITH THE TREASURER TO SEE HOW SHE MIGHT PAY THE MONEY OR HOPEFULLY SHE WILL FIND IT. IT IS HARD WHEN NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO SEEMS TO BE CONSTANTLY PUT DOWN OR HAVE NOSES TURNED UP AT YOU. AS FAR AS RUNNING FOR OFFICE AGAIN, CONSIDER HOW IT ALL MAKES YOU FEEL AND DECIDE IF YOU WANT ANOTHER YEAR OF IT.

Well, I need some advice here. We just started our Scrip program and received our first order. I (I am the PTO Pres.) had an envelope containing 3 checks and $20.00 cash which I gave to our Treasurer in the hall after school before Christmas. She cannot find it. We had our meeting tonight and of course it was noticed that the income did not equal the expenses. So, then our Treasurer spoke up about the missing checks/cash. The "clique" of parents had plenty of whispers about that. I know that the Treasurer isn't very organized but I also know she didn't steal it either. It does give our board a bad rep. I guess the only thing to do is stop pay on the checks and the Treasurer will have to make good on the cash?

I was Treasurer last year and am Pres. this year. The attitudes of some members has made me not want to run again for any office. Is that bad of me? My youngest will only be in 2nd grade next year so I want to make sure the PTO does right by him. We just have our "few" workers and burn out is easy. Just needed to vent I guess. :(
