VP is out of control. What do we do??

21 years 9 months ago #97099 by LUVMYKIDS
You HAVE to do something. I would speak with this person privately and tell her that the PTO's mission is to improve the educational opportunities for the children of your school and that the PTO can not function when there is conflict among its members. Ask her if she wants to see the organization fall apart. Because that is what will happen unless this issue gets settled immediately. We are all entitled to our opinions and feelings but sometimes we have to put aside the emotions to be able to do the job we need to do. If you're having doubts about confronting this problem, you should think about if it would be the best thing for your group to have a person that is that vindictive and immature as the "leader" next year. If she quits, what have you really lost? I know she's your friend, but so is the other person. If you were in her situation, wouldn't you want someone to stand up for you?

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Unfortunately, you're in a pickle. What needs to be done is for you to just tell her to "put a sock in it!" LOL But I guess we're all adults right! Okay just tell her that you don't think the joke is funny and that her and her hubby should keep the poor humor at home. But then once you say that, I'm sure they'll include you in as the root of their problems! Hum, it's just a sad situation. And it's too bad that she's your friend. That makes it worse.

I am the President of our PTO and the only returning member this year. When the members voted last year I was very excited about this year because two of the three new Executive Board members where my friends. The third, our Tres., has caused a few problems, but myself and the Sec. have gotten past them. The problem is that the VP will not let it go. She jumps down her throat at every meeting and won't even talk to her in a civil tone. She even has her husband in on it and everything that goes wrong, is the Treas. fault. They think it is cute to make it their joke that things that go wrong at their house are even the Treas. fault. I am getting tired of listening to it and I don't know how to address the problem wihtout creating a bigger problem. Our PTO has a standing rule that if you agree to be VP you are automaticaly Pres. the next year. If I make her mad and she quits, what will happen next year?? At this point PTO is not any fun and I have no desire to be on the Board again. HEEEELP!!!!!!!!! :(
