Hi, TheMetzyMom!
Did you know that you are an angel?? What a fabulous idea!! Thank you so much! Adding this to the By-Laws won't help us with our immediate problem, but it will curtial such behaviour in the future...and who knows...once I bring this up, it might make some people think about their actions...hmmmm...?? LOL! THanks for a great idea!

Add an addendum to your bylaws, saying something to the effect of:

Any subject voted on by this organization, where a decisive decision has been made, can only be brought back up after a 6 month time lapse. In the event of a shelved vote, this rule will also apply unless a meeting date has been set (i.e. this matter is shelved until next month when we will have received all necessary and pertinent information).

or however your board would like that idea worded. I have seen this in use by casino dealers who kept bringing up votes over and over, exhausting people by wearing them down with the voting process. Once this rule was put into the bylaws, it really does take care of the problem.

Good Luck! ;) ;)

I am the Recording Secretary of our PTO which is in its first year in existence. I need your suggestions on how to handle this problem: Our President keeps running to the Superintendent to discuss PTO stuff. We voted not to pay for class trips, but the Super wants us to, and he and our President keep trying to get the Executive Committee to discuss it at a special meeting. Bu, we already voted against paying for school trips. We told the President that the Super should have nothing to say about how we spend PTO funds (don't we only have to answer to the BOE??), but she doesn't get it, keeps meeting with him, discussing, Lord knows what, and keeps bringing the same issues up. I say that once we vote on something, it's a dead issue. I have no trust or respect for our PResident now. What can we do?? I personally would like to see her resign, and I have no problem voicing that opinion, but I would want to provide legitimate reasons to do so. Is there anything in Roberts Rules that I can use? There is nothing in our By-Laws that would help me here. Thank you so much for any guidance you can provide!
