Team building exercises at meetings

22 years 3 months ago #96149 by LUVMYKIDS
We are in the process of transitioning two schools together and we have had some attitude problems with some parents. The principal and I decide to try a team building exercise at our general meeting last night and what a success!! The members all received a sheet with 12 squares that each had a statement in them(I work outside the home, my children walk to school, I ate chocolate today, etc.). They put there initials in the squares that applied to them and then filled the rest of their squares by going around the room talking to others parents. It took about 10 mins. There was moaning at first but after a few minutes everyone was into it. I had trouble getting them quiet again to start the meeting! Several parents commented that they would like to do something like this at every meeting next year. I think that's going to happen. We were doing it to bring parents from two schools together, but I think it would be great for people who even know each other already. Finding things in common can really boost cooperation among members. Anybody else tried this?

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.
