Hi,
I'm new to PTO, this is my first year as president and my first year being a part of PTO or PTA. It has been a rocky road, as this is the first year for my school. I'm amazed how so many of you have done it for years. I've run into all the same problems and it is nice to know we are not alone. At my school we hold our meetings right before a event and it works great because there is so many parents there for the event. My question is why do you think these problems are on going for several PTO/PTA? It is very hard to work so hard and then have those few negative parents that you can not please. I hope you enjoy your new baby and good luck to you. :D

Well folks, I have a special meeting schedualed for Monday, I know it's a holiday with no school but am hoping that will help some since some of our parents also have the day off! I have sent home two notices, the newsletter and a reminder. I have recieved ONE e-mail response. The funny/fusterating part, the school paper (student written) did an article and printed the wrong e-mail address, the school's parent newsletter wrote the wrong time.... all this can home today! UUUGGGHHHHH!!!!
The school board had their meeting this past Monday night and three parents were there to accuse ME of disbanning etc. The board and my VP set them straight -- I was (thank god!!) running late so heard all about it later. My VP was happy to see me come in late and missing the whole thing, she said I would have been devisated by their remarks, hormones or no hormones! The Board (school) did decide they will not disband the PTO, this will be left up to the PTO membership. They don't want to see us go but understand if only 3 outta 1000 members are attending meetings there is a issue.
The parent that e-mailed me mentioned changing the meeting time and maybe even the date, it would help draw the Moms that are already there to help in the classrooms - I just hope she can attend the meeting to share this idea.
Okay, I'm sorry folks, but I really appreciate your time. As far as the baby, I'm not running again for Prez, instead I am leaving my phone number and e-mail address for the next person. I need sometime to be a Mom. I will soon have 3 under the age of 3, I need some time. I have 10 more weeks to go!! She'll be here before I know it!
Thanks all!
