Everyone was at the first meeting during the vote

"They just had second thoughts..."

The only comment that I will make is, once something is voted in or out, we don't let it come up for vote again. It is not fair to the people that were at the first meeting and not the second. They left feeling everything was set and later a change was made. My answer to someone coming in after the fact to make a change is, you should have been to the last meeting when the subject was voted on. I realize that people can not make it to every meeting but the PTO must move on.

Thank you we have managed to come to a compromise and I discused my feelings with some of the others seperately as you suggested and it seems to have worked... I plan to stick this out I hope this is a sign of positive change.

Not most of the time but I too have been on committees (even chair) and such things have happened. Did you mentioned he was booked or even doing this for free?
This isn't how PTO works but how parents/members vote. Talk to a few people outside a meeting and see if things can be changed, if it's not to late.
Stay with this though, don't let this get you down, you can't, you are a much bigger person and it's not YOU they voted on it's the name of a person. For me, it was my husband that was voted "no" on and it wasn't until voting was over and a $100 was approved for a DJ did someone ask about "that free guy"....my husband. Funny huh.
I really feel this needs to be said more.. THANK YOU for the work you are doing and jumping in! We will always have a life jacket for you! ;)

I am new to the PTO scene and jumped right in (I am now the VP) since I have been elected I've been ignored, overtalked, and now re-voted. I found someone to do our father/daughter dance for free, it was voted yes, and last week it was decided that since he was unknown to the other members they voted against him. I already booked him!!! Do I now have to go back and tell him he's out thanks anyway? Is this how the PTO works?
