Did you get an answer that you would like to share with me? I am trying to figure out what role the principal in our school has and how to curb her control.

Our Principal is on the Board per our by-laws but doesn't run meetings or really for that matter express too much of an thoughts on an matters.
Our Principal is also a very quiet person by nature, that can make a huge difference.

Talk to the other board members to see what is the policy or what is going on. You may be able to get an answer or two.

Do you have by-laws? You should!! They are a must. How do the by-laws describe your principals role? If you have no by laws then create them. Our principal is describes as an advisor with no vote. Sometimes she must be reminded of that.

I am the President of our PTO and our principal has some in put as to what goes on, but we are the deciding factor for the most part. Of course we need her permission for some things, but I am sure that is the same in all schools. What is the point of a president or board if the principal wants to run everything?? Good luck!

I am a new member of our PTO board and am curious about how much the principle is supposed to be involved in the PTO. Our principle seems to be the head of the PTO and makes all the major decisions without much voting and imput from other PTO members. I had always thought that the PTO was run by the parents, not the principle. What are your thoughts on this matter?
