Well, do you have bylaws? that maybe a place for you to start. Another thing would be to get as many parents to the meeting as possible. Let the parents know that there is no order in the pto and that their help is needed. Have you talked to the other officers about your worries and concern? If the main objective is indeed the children... then approach the other officers with that frame of mind... you will catch more bees with honey than vineagar. I have found that going to the other officers gently works. they will appreciate your honesty and will appreciate you going to them about the worries you have instead of gossiping behind their backs.

I'm in my second year in an elementary PTO and it just gets worse instead of better....Our meeting discussions consist of whatever pops into the presidents head as being important. Multiple conversations going on at once. No agenda. No goals at beginning of year. Decisions made at meetings are overturned by president on her own...I guess the bottom line is many of us went into this hoping to do some good for our kids, but we're so frustated with the meetings and lack of direction that at least four of us are ready to resign. As I said this is my second year, the president has been in place at least three years, and I have not seen an election yet! When I asked for a copy of the charter/bylaws, I never received them. We have another meeting coming up, and I'm concerned it will turn ugly instead of constructive. I really believe everyone on the PTO want the best for the kids, there are just too many issues getting in the way for us to accomplish much. I'm hoping someone on this board can give me ideas on how to turn this around.
