NEW TREASURER

Last year we had a past president who tried to sabotage the PTA any chance she could. Long story. My approach was to stay positive, and know my stuff PTA wise. We kept doing all the wonderful events and projects throughout the year. As the year went on parents and teachers could see our positive efforts and her negative efforts kept sabotaging her. Keep reinterating at the meetings that the focus is to benefit the children...it is sad that some people put their personal agendas ahead of the children. When I step down as president the end of this year, the best thing I could give the next person in line is...I hope she/he does an even better job than me. Then I would hve done my job right. I would have helped to foster growth of this great organization.

hello... Congrats on the post of a new treasurer. This mwans that you are that much more responsible to the group now!
you really cannot wish the old gang away but at the same time you have to learn to deal with them in a manner that is polite but yet firm.
Don't let their siggnering bother you because that is how they want to intimidate you. On occasion talk to them about how they did things right the previous year (that will make them less hostile and spur a conversation and try to apprteciate their point of view).
Make sure all the records pertaining to previous years are handed over and complete. If they are incomplete in any aspect please record the fact in the minutes of the meeting.
Lastly always be clear that the objective of being on the PTA is to helpthe school, the children, & the teacxhers see eacxh others point of views so any animosity between the parent body will not deliver optimum results.

Holy Cow!! Here is an oar!!!!!! I'm the new Prez and I have aPrez and Treasurer that are becoming not only a thorn in my side but a nusance to boot!

What am I doing? Right now nothing but I have spoken to the Principal (she saw the whole nightmare) and we both agree if it continues a meeting will be held.

This person does not feel left out. I was voted in because of past issues she caused and everyone at school was fed up with her and her husband claiming they did no wrong ( very long story!) I also have served on the board 2 years prior as Secretary so she knows me and my family very well. All in a nut shell, she is a very sore loser and I'm not the only one that feels this way. In your case, maybe this is the Seniors making fun of the Freshman. Still not right by any means but there has got to be away to meet with these people and 'use' them as an asset.
My best friend told me once "When they start throwing veggies, make a salad!" I told her " I hope they like Ranch on their salad!"

I hope I'm helping, or giving you a good laugh! Maybe some literature about Bullying would help? ... No, it didn't for me but it was a great speaker that night!

May the force be with you
