PTA copies

I hate to jinx myself but when our PTA needs photo copying we have to get it approved by the principal then the lady who runs the large copy machine does the copying. Most times it's a 3 day turn around. When we need things in a hurry we take it to Staples and pay to have it done. We've never had to buy our own paper and we don't have a limit to how much copying we can do.

Our PTO purchases our own paper and keep it in the PTO closet and use the school machines. We think that that's fair. Due to we are using the scool I see cutting cost in purchasing cartridges., etc., or going to pay five cents per copy.

Can anyone tell me how their school handles copies needed to be made by the PTA? We are given an allowance, the same as the teachers, and once we've used it up that's it. Last year I heard we got 2 numbers to enter into the machine, one for when we used our own paper and one for when we used the school's paper, and that sounded fair to me.
This year, however, we were given 1 number and now that it's gone we can't make any more copies until next month. Since our allowance is the same as the teachers', who are printing out stuff for a class of 17-30 students, while we are printing out newsletters, fundraising info, etc. for the whole school (over 600 students), this hardly seems fair to me.
We are going to talk to the principal, who usually fully supports us, about this but would like to have something to suggest as an alternative instead of just whining about how unfair this is. Any ideas?
