Gossip & Behind the Back Conversations

Last years Prez started the year will me (the Sec.) asking for her resignation because of all the harm she and her band of merrymen had caused our small charter school. Yeah, I don't know how much worse you can get than that! She stayed on, never apologized when the acusations she made were proven to be false by the school district and the police NOR did we ever really try and make amends. I look back and can't believe how much it took me just to go to a meeting or even talk to her on the phone but I survived the year and this year I am the President. I know she is still out there talking her talk soup, no I don't like it but I know the truth, the Principal has my home number, and I have the best four munckins in the whole world (My husband thinks I'm nuts but is the first to take the phone when she starts!!). I have been refered to as the 'clean-up crew' because she did so much PR damage.

Please hang in there and from a survivor you can do it! Wouldn't that be a better TV show anyway! The day in the life of a PTO!!
Keep us posted and May the Force be With You!!

boy do I know how you feel. :> ) I have the back stabbing problem also. I'm not really sure what to do about it except keep my head up and concentrate on why I agreed to be president in the first place. I care about my child and her education and I want her to enjoy school. At least the teacher approached you about it and didn't stew over it or believe the mis-information. I am thinking of just having a board meeting (really casual) and just asking what people have issues with and letting them know I am NOT trying to take stuff away, I simply want to know what the money goes towards. I agree, it could be a very long year. :> ) Good luck! Maggie

I am very frustrated. Last year was the merging of two small schools into one large school. PTO had plenty of problems with "we" & "them" attitudes but I thought, through some very rough times, that we have moved past them and were on our way to creating a PTO to be proud of. Our meetings went from five active members to the last four meetings consisting of 25 on average. So, moving on to this school year, we had our budget meeting and I left feeling pretty good, not blind by any means however, as I realize there are still some leftover feelings. Anyway, the budget was voted in and we move on, or so I thought. Now it appears that two board members have sought out a teacher and have misinformed this person that PTO is not providing as much funding as last year because we were upset with her. She approached me and was concerned as to why. We only reduced her funding, as we did everyone else, due to the current economic instability. I smoothed things over and everything is fine. Now, how do I address the bigger issue? I feel like I have been stabbed in the back, although I should be used to it. I want this catiness and gossiping to stop! Does anyone have any creative suggestions. This is going to be a long school year if I can't get a handle on it now. Any help is appreciated. Thank you
