Maggie,

WOW!! What a rough time you've been having! Well, at least you've made a decision. I feel bad that this is the one you came to (I feel bad mostly for the kids, cuz they would probably have benefited from your ideas). However, only YOU know what's best for YOU, and everything you've been going thru must have really been tough (on you AND your family).

YES, YES, YES, please continue hanging with us. We LOVE your ideas, even if those other bo-bos don't.

I also agree with plw about contacting PTA folks for some intervention. Even though you have made your decision, this sort of behavior is not appropriate. If someone from PTA can help then that would benefit everyone and maybe they can benefit from your enthusiasm another year. If you're not sure what to do, by all means send an e-mail to plw!!!

Take Care,
Jo

well, I didn't get any sleep last night over this stupid pta thing. I decided to resign. I am not going to spend all year fighting with this group. I have enough negativity to deal with at work, but at least at work people aren't hostile and they respect the fact that you might have a different opinion. Not so at my school. I'm just really disappointed with the pta. We are having like 4 fundraisers with no real goal on what the money will go to. So pretty much the principal is going to end up with it at the end of the year to do what she wants with it. Our membership people are pushing a shady deal (see above post). Going to take kate to art camp now. maggie
ps: can I still hang with you guys? :> ) I'm still doing the pta welcome back breakfast and the santa breakfast. :> )

Nicurn, my goodness, I did not realize you were a PTA. Have you gone to your council, district, or state? Have any of these women gone through any of the PTA training available? In our council I can tell almost immediately, which units have officers that have some training and which do not. There is also those units that somehow fall into the hands of individuals who plain do not care that they are affiliated with PTA and simply use it as their vehicle. Do you have the bylaws? If you need any help getting with people that could help you out e-mail me and I will hook you right up! Hang in there!

hi guys, yup it's me again. The "planning" meeting was tonight, the "unofficial one where we aren't voting on anything" HA!!!!
I finished my final early (and that in itself was an ugly experience.) So I went to the meeting. (it was 3 hrs long for starters) Where to start on the meeting.
They did vote on stuff, the calendar is now set, and the budget is set. This would be fine, except that of course the 2 evil control freaks got everything they wanted. Complete control. I don't even know where to begin. The negativity in the room was OVERWHELMING! All anyone had to say was "oh, you won't make any money on that" or "that won't ever work" (We won't even go into the fact that they are the "in" group and I'm so NOT). They want to do a "family" membership, but I'm not really clear on that since we are a pta and it says right in the membership guide that you can't do family membership. I think what they want to do is say, Oh family membership is 14$ and then hope that the person signing up only signs for one card so that we then only have to pay dues on that one card. so for example, I sign up for the family membership and then sign up 3 people (me, dh, and say granny) and then they have to give me 3 cards, I assume we then pay dues on the 3 cards. That seems pretty shady to me. If we are doing shady things.... I'm so OUT. I'll stop venting now, but trust me, it was an ugly meeting and right now I dislike (picture a stronger word there) them all. I'm going to bed now. Thanks for listening. maggie
