What if NO ONE runs for President?

Thank you for your suggestions!

I read the threads that you suggested - there were 3 in particular that were three people experiencing a very similar problem. All of that occurred 11 months ago. I wish I could find out what happened to them.

They explained that they also had to find people to volunteer to fill the positions of a entire new board. I realize that perhaps last minute someone will say they'll take the position but it is troublesome in the interim.

It's not going to easy with an entire new board that will probably be critiqued by the former board members sitting in the auditorium at the meetings.

Hi "worried"-
I can understand how the outgoing members would like someone on the current board to step up but they know better than anyone that it's a big commitment and decision. The important thing is no one should be guilted into a position. www.ptotoday.com/pto-today-articles/arti...aping-the-guilt-trap

Instead, would suggest starting to recruit people now. Here is a thread that talks about what has worked for other groups in terms of recruiting:

I would suggest enlisting the help of your principal and teacher members... ask them to reach out to possible candidates.

Over the years my PTO has had 2 years where we went to the final hour and wondered if anyone was going to step up... and someone came forward both times. Was it always the "ideal" person? No... but it is a volunteer organization after all and the important thing is that their heart is in the right place.

Please keep us posted!

Our board consists of 8 members. All members except 1stVP and 2ndVP are stepping down. The exiting members were all on the board 2 - 3 years each. The 1st and 2nd VP are just completing their first year.

Neither VP feels ready to take on Presidency. They both feel they are just getting their feet wet and now feel great pressure from the exiting board for one of them to "step up". The exiting board feesl that all of their "hard work" has been for nothing if a totally new person becomes President. These ladies are not happy with the 1st and 2nd VPs and have made comments indicating this.3 of these members will still be parents in the school.

No one at all from the membership has volunteered to be on the nominating committee nor has anyone nominated themselves for ANY position.

What happens if NO ONE at all runs for President? Has this ever happened before?
