<start rant>

Well, it has apparently happened. I knew it was coming and attempted to adjust things before hand to prevent it, without much success.

It is only the middle of the year (barely) and I am all ready burnt out. I have a great group of people (for the most part) around me and have delegated as much to them as I can, let a lot more go that wasn't important, and still feel like I am being buried alive and in a constant uphill struggle. The majority of this is due to one board member who is just a pain. She wants to run everything but is overbooked, doesn't meet deadlines, doesn't do HER job, and expects the world to bow to her wishes. She has made this year (and most other years) a horrible experience. I have tried every trick, management technique, etc. to work with her and it is just impossible. The more I try the less I seem to accomplish.

I am seriously considering not returning to the board leadership role I currently have next year. Although I know we have made some great changes and a lot of people have come on board who haven't in the past because they sense the changes. If I step out I know that will go back to being the "status quo" in that same process no one wants to run against this person and I am tired of having to watch my back and worry about what new underhanded trick she is pulling or which board member she is trying to manipulate me through.

I am not a quitter but it is to the point it is her or I.... I can't continue like this... (and shouldn't have too!)
