Troubles with an old treasurer.

13 years 10 months ago #154948 by Rockne
Hi Acerly -

I'm not 100% clear on what happened.

There's certainly nothing wrong with your PTO spending funds on PTO supplies. Equally, there's nothing wrong with this one mmeber disagreeing with your group's decision.

Was there a discussion and vote? Were bylaws followed? If so, then my response to this person would be: "Thanks for your input. Fair points. We've made that decision for this year, but I definitely encourage you to share your feelings next time that line item comes up for discussion."

There's no way you can go through the year with all parents agreeing with all decisions. Some parent will disagree with your having coffee at meetings because caffeine is a drug. Doesn't mean you have to ban coffee.

Troubles with an old treasurer. was created by Acerly
Just recently there has been a situation with an old treasurer. There was some money spent for ink and paper for the PTO members to use for PTO use only. This person pulled each one of us aside independently to tell us how our jobs are to be done and that the money is a mistake and could have been spent somewhere else. This person helped to pass the Treasurer's report at the PTO meeting and did not raise a concern. How should we handle this with out causing to much of a problem?
