Teachers and school bookkeeper on the board.

It all depends on what is allowed in your PTO's by-laws.

Some groups would consider your situation to reek of "conflict of interest" but other groups welcome school teachers and administrators in executive positions on the board. Other groups welcome school personnel on the board but prohibit them from serving in an executive position.

My advice is to familiarize yourself with your PTO's by-laws, then observe before you finalize your opinion on the matter.

Need some answers and advice. Is it common for teachers and school officials to be officers in the PTO? Currently our school bookkeeper is the treasurer on our PTO and we have a teacher who is also an officer. I personally find this a conflict of interest. I am very new to the PTO and our school has not really had an active PTO in years and I don't know all the ins and outs yet. Does anyone have an opinion on this subject or any advice??
