Help with Agendas for first PTO meeting

15 years 10 months ago #145072 by Mrs.Christie
Thank you, that helps. I will ask them that question.

I have printed a role of the PTO sheet and a list of officers and what they do.

I am the first PTO president the school has had so I have no one else to learn from. I hope I can get it all together this year in order to help the person who will take over next year. ;)

What the PTO really is and does -- is often: what the people who come to the meetings want it to do.

Ask the people who came: why did you come? What improvements do you think could be done? How can I/we help you accomplish it? Have you heard of a great fundraiser from another school, can you get more details?

Good luck.

Hello. I am new to this site.

This will be my second year as PTO president for a Early Childhood Center for children with special needs. A preschool for kids 3-4 years old.

The first meeting I attended last year I was elected CO-PTO president with someone else but she basically fell through on everything so that left just me. As the meetings once a month went by the PTO dwindled. As of the second meeting the secretary dropped out and basically the only officers left were just myself and the treasurer. By the last meeting it was just the two of us and a couple of teachers. So most of the year I was doing things on my own, including handling all the fundraising.

So basically I feel like I don't have any idea of how to run a big meeting. At the biggest meeting from last year I wasn't running it!

Can anyone give me ideas on what kinds of things I should bring up? Or give me a good definition of what the PTO really is and does.

So far I have the welcome, introduction, treasurers report, the person who does the fundraising speaking and then election of the remanding officers that we need to fill.

If anyone can give me any ideas or help it would be greatly appreciated.

Our meeting is tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you!
