Volunteer Sign-in at school

Thanks for the ideas...I wish we could have a computer that the parents could sign into, maybe next year! I like the point system, I will mention it at my next meeting

Hi,

The PTO Manager program does have a sign-in module. If you can put a computer/laptop in the main office that can access the internet then volunteers can sign in using PTO Manager. All the hours/info go right into PTO Manager so you are able to run reports and get all the volunteer data you need. Feel free to call us at 800-557-2670 if you have more questions about PTO Manager's sign-in capabilities.

Our parent group is called PRIDE (Parents Readily Involved in District Education), we are the parent group for three schools. Hence, we have created "PRIDE Points".
Here is how it works, we have sign in sheets at EVERYTHING, from meetings, to book fairs, to family nights, to helping in the classroom. It is the parents responsiblity to sign in at each thing they "attend". We have a committee that tallys these after each event (or once a month for the classroom help). The sign in sheets lists the parents name and child's first name and teacher. The child's classroom gets one PRIDE point for each time their parent signs into an event. At the end of the year, the classroom with the most PRIDE points is rewarded with a pizza party.
It has rasised attendance at our meetings and parents who never signed in at the office before, seem to always remember now!
IF a parent has more than one child in the district (we are preschool through 8th grade), each child's classroom gets a point. These points are updated on our website and in our newsletter, as well as announced at each meeting.
It works and the cost is minimal.

I can tell you one thing that does not work. We have a sign in sheet in the office and visitor stickers. At the begining of the year everyone comes by the office. As volunteer hours increase over the year this step seems to fall right through the cracks. So if you choose to go a simple route, just re-enforce your rules through out the year for consistancy.
Good Luck! It is an issue I am trying to address also(with no money to assist), so I will check this thread again to see if anyone else can help us both!

Does anybody have any ideas on how to organize a sign-in for the volunteers who come into the school? Our PTO group uses the PTO Today management to organize our events but need something for the day to day parent volunteers.
Thank you for any ideas
