PTO Felon

Don't you have any background screening? If you do, she can't possilbly pass. It she does pass by some miracle, have the principal make her do an intensive screening. If she really was arrested and not someone stealing her identiy then she will turn up.

We have a basic background that is run before anyone can volunteer in any capacity, let alone serve on the board. Any vendors must go to the county for an extensive screening and fingerprinting.

My entire board left the school at the end of the 06 school year. I was literally the only one left, so I had to build from scratch. I know how you feel. I recruited my VP and Treasurer at the Volunteer Orientation. Gotta love those kindergarten parents. Can't seem to hold onto a Volunteer Coordinator or Secretary though.

Hope this helps. Let us know how this turns out.

Mention this to your principal--- I know that PTO's are separate, but she should be informed at least and maybe she can look into this further.... I know it's hard since you have stepped down--

I had a question about my kids school PTO. As of the end of this year I have stepped down I am no longer able to take all the drama. However when the papers went out to find a new board (two others resigned and one left the year before) not one person signed up. So the only member that was left was a woman that I have come to learn has felonies. She was charged in 03 with felony theft and then in 06 with felony passing bad checks. She is still going through court procedings. Just last month she failed to report to her parole officer and a warrent was issued for her arrest. They picked her up a couple days later after she recieved a traffic ticket and they got her new address. She spent a week in jail and is now reporting to her P.O. and has to submit to substance control testing. I have brought up her record with a few other people in the school but they have close relationships with her and her family and told me that it wasn't really her that someone stole her identity. I am not sure what I should do but I really don't think that she should be on a PTO board. Any suggestions?
