I need some advice...

I am constantly amazed how people justify bad behavior, and in this case, illegal behavior, with a big sad song, such as "I haven't been able to sleep/eat, ect. and that others are pulled in by it. (I wonder if they had problems eating and sleeping before they got caught?!) There is little else that can be worse than stealing from YOUR CHILDREN!!

I appreciate your situation, as a similiar issue arose with our organization several years ago. Even more sad is that your school admin. took such a wishy washy approach to this. I would definately insist on an audit-going back at least 4 years, and not worry who it may offend. Stealing from children should offend these people- not getting to the truth.
Good luck with this!

Thanks T Mills...The sad part is..this money was suppose to be put back but the past pres. will only show a paper that was typed up...not a bank statement, where the money amount was highlighted. I honestly have never met so many dishonest people in one place in my life, and some of the members are okay with this. I just don't understand how they can let this slide. I'm not out to hang anyone, all I want is for them to show me "legally" where this money was put back. The past pres. and the newly elected pres. responses are "Its just too upsetting." And people are buying this crap. I don't know where else to turn to. Thanks again T. for responding.

Oh how horrible. Something similar happened to our club a few years back, we are pretty sure that 2000 to 3000 was taken, but due to extremely poor booking we could not do much about it. We also had the same response from the school board members (super and principal) they could only offer advice. We were fortuante to find some of the missing monies after weeks of searching for records. But since we have an annual audit and the school treasurer does a 3 month audit for all our parent clubs. We were advised that if the treasurer couldn't produce accurate records we should get the police involved. Luckily it was down to $500 so we just learned by mistake and were very careful from there on out. Good luck- T Mills

I am so disgusted for you that your principal and super is taking the blind way out, maybe you need to go onto the blog here and get some articles about stealing in parent groups, with documentation ask them once again to get involved. This is so much deeper than your group this is about your school, and districts name as well! I am stunned and feel for you, I also would not blame you for walking away but truth is it is still going to haunt you, we know that. Keep trying higher up...they need to see this!

Pals,
Exactly, why now! I have requested an audit to be done, I have requested to see where the money had been put back. Their answer of seeing where it was put back was, "This is just too upsetting." What am I suppose to think? I have contacted the principal and super-attendant also. I was told that our GPO is seperate from the school and yes, they both gave me advice, and I did take their advice by bringing this forward to all the members and ask for an audit. The past president has been in there along with the past treasurer for 4 years and they have made thier, lets say, clicks, so some of these members are backing her up. They told them at this meeting.."This has almost cost their marriages, they couldn't sleep at night, couldn't eat, etc..and they felt bad for them. My gosh, I couldn't believe my ears! The past treasures was also at this meeting and most of those members came up to her and said they forgave her...I'm not out to hurt anyone, or send anyone to jail, but I think she needs to pay the consequences along with the past pres. and newly elected pres. The newly elected treasurer has also resigned along with me. We both have been beside ourselves trying to figure out what to do. No. 1, I think this newly elected pres. should be made to resign, have an audit, get all new officers in there with a clean slate. I just wonder how far back does this really go if this treasurer has been in there for 4 years. I am truly astounded how anyone can do anything like this. This is our children's money that they have collected for fund-raisers, Santa's workshop, Book fairs...etc. This is so wrong.
Thanks pals for your input..I really appreciate it.
