I agree with the other posters here. Your bylaws outline who is a viable candidate. If she meets the criteria then she can run. The voters will decide.

It's interesting how many people think the PTO is a springboard for pushing their own agenda. If she is elected she will quickly find out that she is only one vote, is bound to the bylaws as much as any other officer and is accountable to the general membership. If her views are not in line with the majority of voters then she can do little but grumble about it.

However, if the change she is pushing for is welcome by the membership then perhaps she is the right leader at the right time to help the group move forward. It takes strength and bravery to disrupt the status quo. Even if she is making waves and making enemies that doesn't mean she is wrong and would be a bad leader.

I say leave things well enough alone and let the membership decide what kind of leaders they want.

If the PTO membership that will be voting know of her antics, then they won't vote for her. Have faith in those that know right from wrong and can see the writing on the wall. If she gets elected, then those that voted for her can work closely with her to get things done around the school.

"It has been said ..."

you cant base decisions or procedures (removng someone from a ballot) based on rumor/hearsay. and so what if the rumors are accurate? you cannot know that , nor is it safe to asume they are. talk is cheap.

let her run and the voters will decide.

I agree with pals. I've never really seen a situation where a volunteer could be removed from a ballot and it does sound like everyone has this woman's number so she's not very likely to get many votes anyway.

It sounds like your parents don't want her so she really shouldn't be elected in, doesn't sound like they will vote for her. I don't see any way you could remove her from the ballot , I doubt your bylaws say anything about that. We sort of went through this only with bigger issues, when we talked to the district about our rights we were told that we couldn't stop a parent from volunteering but we could monitor them...even though we all wanted to stop them. I guess you have to leave it to the voters to decide.
