Board member steps down

Good question. I'd say a written letter of resignation makes her intentions clear. Accept her resignation and move towards filling the open position.

Does your group have bylaws? If so, is there a clause about filling open positions? If not, I recommend that the remaining officers decide on a plan and then follow through.

Some groups run an election, giving interested parties time to join the race.

My last group's bylaws allowed for the board to appoint a replacement for the remainder of the term.

In the meantime, you'll still want to temporarily appoint someone to take meeting minutes.

I need some advice on what is appropriate to do when a board member steps down, after an unpleasant happening. It has been a rough road the pass few weeks for my board and just when we thought things were getting back on track, I get a letter of resignation from our Recording Secretary. She sent only a letter to me as Parliamentarian. I've share this info with the Principal and the PTO Pres. What do I do next?
Do I do nothing until our monthly meeting the begining of Oct and make an announcement then?
I have to say it is great to have a place to come with questions.
Thanks!
