The Treasurer has no idea you're the Fundraiser VP. And no body knows about this Tupperware fundraiser but her and her contact? It seems that there are major communication gaps in this group as well.

Every member of your team should know the names, repsonsibilities and approved projects of their fellow members. Of course you don't always need to share the details, that's what committee meetings are for. But a solid overview, in my opinion, is mandatory.

If nothing was set in stone at the last meeting about this tupperware fundraiser, does the rest of the board know that it's planned for Nov? I'd be checking with the other board members. They might not know about it either.

I wish I knew the answers to your questions. They are the same questions I am asking myself. Evidentally, last year's treasurer had all the info for the fundraiser and passed on to the new one. When I asked the previous fundraising VP about it, she said the only thing she knew about it was what we talked about at our last PTO meeting in June. Nothing was set in stone at the last meeting. It was left as a fundraiser that we might be able to do if we needed to come spring. My husband and I were talking about this last night and the only thing we can figure is that the new treasurer has no idea that I am the new fundraising VP even though I have mentioned it to her many times. I have known this woman for a few years (she is actually the person who got me involved with PTO when my daughter started school). She is one of those people that talks constantly and always has to be right...no matter what. If you don't agree with her, then that is just too bad for you. The other thing my husband and I think is that maybe the contact is a friend of hers(it's a Tupperware fundraiser)and she wants to be in charge of it. That is fine with me but I think she should at least be honest with me and tell me that instead of giving me the run around. I have had bad experiences with this person in the past and just have a bad feeling about what she is telling me. I don't feel that I can believe what she says anymore because I have been burned by her in the past. I guess we'll just wait and see what happens next!!!

Huuummm, I had something like that happen to me too. I chaired for many years Fundraising at the elementary school. Each year we did better than the previous year. One year the pricipal came up with a coupon book that he agreed to sell (without asking the PTO). After the fact we were notified. I was fuming. It turned out that the rep was a neighbor of his and I don't know what deal was made. We let the principal handle the fundraiser on his own...It took away from the PTO fundraising but he never did that again... If the treasurer insists on this event, let her handle it entirely. It almost sounds suspicious. I'd say carry on with your agenda and let the PTO know your calendar and ignore treasurer unless she gives you the information you need. It needs to bea Board decisison anyway. I never do a fundraiser without the blessings of the Board.

It is frustrating when you don't have the information you need to do your job, and you definately do need to know what fundraisers are being planned. In fact, I'm surprised that one was planned without your knowledge and input if you are the fundraising VP. I think I would ask the other board members if they know anything about this fundraiser, and for sure approach the president about it. I'm wondering, though, how would the treasurer know about a fundraiser and you don't? And why does she have a problem with you knowing about it? Sounds kind of strange to me.

This is why I like e-mail. I can e-mail you the issue at hand and cc anyone else I need to and some accounts allow you to know when he recieved the message.

Two years ago our Prez was a great Dad and e-mail was THE best way to communicate with him as he traveled so much. This way we avoided bothering his poor wife and tyeing up his company cell phone.

Also weezy, your not making the problem...the other person did with the run-around...period.
