Being that she has not returned call and its 3 weeks latter I would find someone else as Critter said.

Bylaws are in the future for you. In times like this it makes it so much easier for officers.

Good Luck

Three weeks is more than enough time to type up minutes. Maybe she's trying to make them too detailed. Or maybe she lost her hand notes. Or maybe she's not really interesetd in the job for one of 1000 reasons. You've been reasonable. I would recruit a new secretary, even if it's just for your next meeting, and write some bylaws!

This post is part rant, part what do I do?

We are 5 weeks into our school year, all new board this year except me. I held a board meeting/ training session before school started so everyone would know what they were doing. Everyone's excited, enthusiastic, it's all good.

Ok, we have our first meeting almost three weeks ago. It goes great. After the meeting I chat quickly with various people to make sure we are both clear on what we are doing. One of these is the sec--she is to send minutes to me ASAP and out to parents next week. It's my first time running a meeting, and when I get home, I am dismayed to see I have not taken very good notes-I neglected to note the name of the person heading up a key committee. Oh, well, that is what the sec is for, right?

No minutes appear in my inbox--ever. Nor do they go out to parents--ever. I email, I call, I just want to know what's going on, what can I do to help. No response. We need an email vote, sec responds to that, apologizes for delay with minutes, will get them to me the next day.

Next day, no minutes. I have gone from upset to very annoyed. This woman has TWO duties as sec, everything else has been given to other people to do. I have told her(in emails and phone calls that are so far unreturned) if you want to quit, just tell me, if you are overwhelmed and need help, just tell me. I will not get mad at you, I just need to know. I have done everything I can to be kind, understanding, and accomodating. Short of showing up at this woman's house, I do not know what to do now. We have no bylaws, and I do not know what to do, except maybe do a stake out at her house and try to corner her. Help!
