Software for school directory

Good question!

The best software for book layout is Adobe's InDesign. But let me tell you, if you're only making one book a year, it's not financially worth it, and there's some training that would have to go into it as well.

Your second best choice for user-friendliness and cost is MS PUblisher. If you choose to use a paper size of 11x17, you'll have the open page format right infront of you. You can also import spreadsheets from excel. Just be mindful that when working on page 1, the right side is your cover and the left is your back.

And the absolute easiet way to do it is create all of your pages on their own, not bothering with facing pages. Print them all out and glue them in the order desired on 11x17 paper and then have it copied. I know people who have done yearbooks this way, and let me tell you, they looked great!

GOOD LUCK!

We've published a directory for several years now. It's booklet form. The volunteer who types it is complaining how difficult it is to do it this way...figuring out which pages face which, etc.

Does anyone know of software that would make this easier for us?
