Shawn's Fave Introduction to your Oath (okay his top 5)

The office to which you have been elected is one of dignity and importance. In accepting this office you undertake a responsibility, which is not to be assumed lightly nor carelessly discharged. You are charged with the duties of seriously and resolutely furthering the mission and objectives of the Anytown PTA/PTO ______________.

With the By-Laws and Policy as your guide, you must be ever ready to exercise the functions of the office with which you are entrusted.

Further, you are charged with governing this organization according to the laws of democracy, under which laws every man who wishes to speak shall be heard, toward the end that in every matter considered, the best opinion shall prevail through the expressed will of the majority, and the best course of action followed.

Do you accept this charge/ challenge?

"I, _________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the constitution of the United States, the constitution of the state of XXXX and the laws thereof, and the bylaws and policies of the ___________ PTA/PTO. During my term, I will faithfully and impartially discharge the responsibilities of the {Office of Board Member} to the best of my ability."


I, ___________________, having been elected as ________________ of the Anytown PTA/PTO _______________ , do solemnly swear to abide by and uphold the By-Laws of this organization, to perform my duties to the best of my ability and capacities, without fear or favor, with the aim in view of furthering the purpose of this organization, and advancing the interest of the community to which it is dedicated; and to conduct myself in a manner befitting a good and true member so as to bring honor and prestige to the organization, and that I take this pledge without mental reservation or purpose of evasion

I need help-We are swearing in a new officer next week but as the president I have no clue what to say for this event. Does anyone have any suggestions? I saw a recommended web site on the message boards but I can not access this site. Any help would be appreciated.
