What (free) software and web tools do you use?

Hmmm, for some reason my login didn't take today.

At our middle school, we also use Google Groups to create internet/email discussion lists that people can choose to join.

This is a good way of sharing information via email without having to maintain a list of addresses and/or share those addresses with everyone on the committee, group, team, whatever.

I saw a new (to me) web tool this week and thought maybe another round of sharing might be valuable. Note - with any "free" service you'll need to weigh the value, privacy issues, exposure to commercial ads, etc. to decide if it's worth it.

Our church youth group is using mysignup.com to have volunteers sign up for shifts at their pumpkin patch. It's been very effective. The volunteer picks a shift and enters name, email, phone, and indicates a password. Only name displays. If they change their mind they can remove their own name.

I think this could work well for shifts, signing up to bring food items. It's not the most elegant looking page - but very functional.

Has anyone used this? What other tools are you using?
