We dont get a lot of attendance after the first meeting. We have about 550 students and for the first meeting its 20 after that maybe 5-10. We do offer childcare. We dont usually have a problem getting parents for events either though.

Our board members are usually the only ones to show up. Our meeting are basically monthly executive meetings. Once in a while we'll get a parent to show up.
Our volunteer rate is excellent. We've had plenty of help with our functions. We recruited most of our volunteers during our open house in Sept. with sign up sheets for all the events that we were hosting.
I don't think we are even going to push attending meetings any more. Parents are obviously content with whats going on and don't feel a need to show up anyway. Our meetings are bascially monthly executive board meetings now. If we get a straggler to attend here and there great.
We have almost 500 students in our K-2 school but only about 8-10 parents at our meetings. However, many parents have young children and as we are not allowed to offer childcare at our meetings, many cannot attend. This meeting attendance does not reflect the actual parent participation in PTO activities. We usually don't have problems with finding committee chairs and/or volunteers. Just because parents can't get to meetings doesn't always mean they aren't interested.
We all know the first meeting of the year the head count is very high. My question is what % of the school makes your 1st meeting and how is your attendance at the regular monthly meetings?
