not a stupid question at all. I hate to be overwhelmed and I think the first exec. meeting should be in Aug. We already had ours since we are all new and meeting with the new principal for lunch this week. we are holding our first pto meeting the 3rd week school opens. Since, I am new, I am doing the candy bar initiation to set the tone of the upcoming year as fun! I am also hosting a Kindergarten orientation 1 wk before school opens and the boohoo yahoo breakfast on the 1st day. Our first fundraiser which is a walk a thon will take place in Oct. during school hours so that parents won't be so overwhelmed and hit with everything at once. OUr meetings are also theme oriented. Oct is apple pie month, nov is holiday recipe swap month and so on. I am really trying to keep things in a calm and fun fashion. I am all for poems and found great ones on this website to use.
Good luck

This may sound like a stupid question but when do you hold your first meeting of the year. we generally try to do it after our school block party but before our first event. This year however do to someone the block party was moved a week into the school year, which is the week before our bookfair, and open house night. It has been a problem with getting parents out two nights a week for school events, I am just afraid that if I do it before the block party exposure that it will send a wrong message. we will be sending home a meeting flyer but it it is so much better to talk in person. Having a meeting the night before the bookfair starts seems like it won't work...I am at a lost at when to have it....UGH Orginally it was going to be the 12th, but now that is two nights before the blcok party. Do I have it the night after the block party and hope parents will come out again? For the record I do talk at Kindergarten orientation so those parents will already have that personal touch given! Advice...
