I need advice about funding.

Just a suggestion, but when one small group asked us to support them and for a big chunk of our misc. budget, we figured how much they were asking per student and whether or not we would be willing to give this to the rest of the population if asked.
Does this meet with your group's purpose?
I would also worry that if your group paid for it once that instead of showing the district that you needed more funding, it could back fire and they could give your school less because it is finding it's own funding.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Our PTO is lucky enough to have a budget surplus this year. We are also strapped with class sizes that are large. In one grade, they are large enough that the parents have raised money to fund another teacher at that level. Here is where the dilemma comes in....
this parent group has requested money from the PTO to help their cause. Some feel we should help because we can, others feel that we shouldn't because it isn't for all students. We are a tax-exempt legal non-profit organization and don't want to do anything that would mess that up for us when we do taxes etc. Any suggestions on how to handle this very "HOT" topic would be greatly appreciated.
