Our school district has done some redistricting which has caused my children to go to a new school this year. At the beginning of the year there was no PTO. The past president had become ill andhad decided that she didnt want to run it anymore. Her husband was the treasurer. They had all the books, all the information and all the keys.
I couldnt get them to call me back when I would call and ask them toturn over all PTO things that they had intheir posession. I had finally decided to get a NEW PTO up and running while I took legal steps to retrieve our books.
They showed up at the meeting that I had scheduled and said that they had now decided they want to run it after all.
So.... she is president, I am vice president, he is still treasurer.
This is her 3rd year as president. I have asked several times to see the financial records of the organization, to have by laws written(there are NONE) and to get a budget written (there isnt one).
The principal seems happy to let the PTO law low this year, but there are still things that must be done. PTO has promised a staff luncheon as our staff appreciation gift tothem... we need todelivery. The PTO always hosts the 6th grade graduation... we need to continue this. AND we at least need to put together an election for next years officers...WHAT DO I DO TO MAKE THINGS GET DONE.
The only thing I know is there is close to 20,000 in the bank account and every time I suggest or request that the PTO do this or that, I am met with "we cant afford it".
I want to run for president for the next school year and I really really want her husband out of the position of treasurer. I finally saw bank statements for the past 3 years, but still no ledger, no receipts and no budget! What can be done?
