giving Girl Scouts money

And even though you charter the Boy Scouts, you don't pay anything to them.

I wouldn't make the donation to the troop either.

No, I don't think so...doesn't "smell" right. What if the school choir needed a bit and then the baseball team, etc...

Don't do it. Scouting is a great thing. The kids learn so much and part of the girl scout law is "being responsible for what I say and do". The girls themselves are responsible for earning the money that they need for their badges, pins, etc.

In my daughters group, the parents were responsible for the start items needed. There is financial assistance available to the girls if they need it. It is my understand that if they fill out the paperwork, they automatically qualify.

If they are really that desperate, they need to get a business to sponsor them.

I am suprised they even asked you to do this. I am a leader of a troop and I do not think you should do this. I don't think you should take money that people raised for the school and donate some of it to the scouts.

They should hold some other fundraiser to recoup their losses and I would go so far as to help them even in use of the school for a possible fundraising event, but I would not just give them money that was not raised by parents for them.

You can get out of this easy by telling them you will be in violation of your bylaws and just can't do it.

Just remember, if you give one organization money the word will travel and everyone will be contacting you. Also, keep in mind your PTO by-laws, what do they say about this?

Our PTO has a dilima . .. .we've been asked by our school brownie troop to purchase the girls badges, pins, troop number patches and other emblems. They did their fall fundraiser and because one girl never turned in her money, they didn't receive their profit.

Do any of you other PTO's approve expenses like this. The total she initially asked for was $70 . . .now the confirmed total is $111?????

we charter our boy scouts at the school but girl scouts are their own organization by themselves.

Just wanted to get other opinions. . ..
