but anytime something is new, it takes time to be accepted. don't give up.
I'm sure they have had volunteers come forward and not follow thru so they seem to be to be guarded against this new person who wants to do something.
I think you'll have to build some trust first. I'd just start finding places to fill in and make myself known and valueable. Little by little you will get their attention as a person who can be trusted and intrusted and responsbile to follow thru.

I think someone has to be the "gate keeper" and know what is going on. Start volunteering in other areas and build trust. The school board of the Church should have some oversee on their part, would image some things you can do on your own with out asking permission, as long as they are for the good of all.
How involved should the director of the school be in the Parent Club?
Well they should over see everything and know what is going on. I would image they have a lot on their plates and dont' want to micro-manage another thing! Once you have earned their trust they will most likely let you run with it. If they are parents they are involved.

Sure, I dont' see why not. Who better than someone who knows the goals of the school. Get the program up and running and pass it forward to someone who will run with it.
OK, we are a small (church) private school about 147 students. I volunteered to head up our Parent Club because I could see what a mess (new to the school last year) it was and no one wanted to do it.
OK, we have no by-laws. :eek: I'm setting up a committee to develope some, but right now the school board and director of the school pretty much dictate how things in our parent club are to run. Yet they say (and this is the only thing in writing) that PC is independent and can do what we want with the funds it raises.
Everytime I try to do something, they tell me no. Whether a family night, parents/moms night, purchasing things for the school, etc., etc.
So, My question is...
How much say should the school board (& Church) have in the Parent Club?

I am having a lot of problems with the director--she's lying and going behind my back and won't listen even at school board meetings. And I can't get it discussed at school board meetings because she controls so much of it.
