The Dover PTO site looks awesome!
I read about setting up a website for free at orgsites.com from another forum discussion, and I made our 'new' website in a matter of hours just a few weeks ago! It's so easy to update, and NO ads!! See our site here: PF-PTSO
I've never worked on a website before, but there are basic directions and easy edit features. And I've been working on adding graphics and colored font, etc. I highly recommend this for the website beginner!

As someone who visits 20 to 50 PTO,PTA and
school sites daily I must say you have done
a great job It is a very clean, uncluttered
site. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Great Job!!! As a visitor, I got a good sense of what a family-friendly environment your school has. I also loved the donation link. We are in the process of becoming a 501c3, so I will file away this idea for the (hopefully near) future.

I like the site. It's fun and informative. A couple suggestions I would offer are:

1) As you learn about web design incorporate basic accessibility best practices. One of the most fundamental is that there should never be a graphic/picture without an ALT tag. (when your mouse hovers over the graphic - the text label that shows). A person with vision impairment or someone using a slow modem who turns graphics "off" can't see the pictures. This is a very simple thing to do. Most of yours have ALT Tags, but there are a couple that don't.

I promise you - it's super simple to add these once you see how your tool handles it.

As a test, you can go into your browser and turn off graphics as a test. (For IE - it's Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, then click "off" the display pictures/graphics box). You should be able to read and navigate the whole site with pictures turned off.

2) It's a nice idea to include a date/timestamp for the last time the page was changed as a routine part of each page footer. (You can put in fields that change automatically each time you save -you don't have to re-key the date.)

Thanks for sharing. It's a great site!

Awesome Suggestions. I followed your instructions about turning off the graphics and I understand what you are talking about. I will definitely use your suggestions about the ATL tags. Thanks a million!!!

Hi! I think you did a great job with the website. It looks great!

Frazzled...what happened with the newsletter is that it opens in a new browser window. That is why it does not offer you the ability to hit your back button as it comes up in its own window. To get out of it you just need to close out that window.
