Cash incentives for fundraising

Our Kathryn Beich rep offers a Fall into Cash prize program instead of the regular toys. For example you might sell 10 items and get $5. You can earn spins on the money wheel and a minute in the money storm if you sell enough. It is always a big motivater at our school.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

I vaguely remember a fundraiser at our school where the students competed for chances to draw bills out of a cash box. The box had mostly $1s, a few $5s, $10s & $20s and one $50. I don't remember the details except that the students were very excited about just winning a chance to draw money from the box.

wow that sounds like alot of money and I would be hesitant to agree to do this because of the amount of money. You may have some upset parents because kids will be out there by themselves door to door, even at the middle school age they are easy for sickos to snatch!!! Another thing is with that amount of money it sort of sends a message we need money but we are also giving away a substantial amount??Different message being sent?
What about a ipod, game boy, personal cd player, things like that?? that is what our middle school does and the kids love it.

Our middle school students are not cool with participating in our fundraiser for "toys" or parties. We are considering offering CASH. Perhaps even having a drawing where for every item they sold their name would be entered into a drawing for $1000. Has anyone ever done anything like this? Or do you have other ideas for middle school students?
Thanks
