My friend did one at her school but with Longaberger baskets. The PTA dontated some money to start. They sent letters home and asked everyone to dontate some money or some items for the baskets. Each basket had a theme. They had the liners and protectors. My friend sells Longaberger baskets, so I'm sure she sold at cost. They had a 50/50 drawing. They had themed baskets that they raffled off as well. You paid to get in, and that included a 3 board sheet for each game, plus one board for each of the specials. You were able to buy more cards if you wanted. They also had baked goods and drinks for sale. They made about 3500.

We do one every year. You need to start by finding a person that sells baskets (unless you plan on hosting yourself with purchased baskets). We have a Henn Pottery person that does these in the area. We link up in the summer and I tell her our budget and she uses the sales she has to purchase merchandise for us. Since it is a mom she usually gives it to us at cost. We put about 600 dollars into the products/prizes and then use one or two for raffle prizes. We also collect raffle prizes from around town (free ice cream cones, etc). Then we run a regular bingo with about 14 different games. We set up a concession stand and run a 50/50 as well. Advertise, advertise, advertise. There is a group of folks in our town that comes to these things most Friday nights. We charge 15 dollars for the bingo cards and 5 dollars a pack for extra cards. Then we have the raffle tickets that we sell and some doorprizes that we give away. The 50/50 is a separate sale, 1 dollar a piece or 5 dollars for an arm length (guess what folks buy).
I don't love to go to these things and if we didn't make some money this year I wasn't going to do again...but we made over 1,000 bucks for about a 2 hour program so yeah...we'll do it again.
Anyway--that's the long and short of it. The pottery person has the bingo game etc and we also had a projector that showed the board and the number/letter called. Made for a lot less mistakes on the bingo call.

Has anyone ever done a basket bingo? We have thought about doing one, but I have no idea where to start.....how much do you sell tickets for? What baskets are the most popular? Do you buy the liner, etc with the basket or just do the basket by itself? How far in advance should we sell the tickets? How many games do you play? What about raffel items? Ahhhhhhhhh....so many questions, so little time! Any help would be great!
