Year end teacher luncheon

5 words: Baked Potato and Salad Bar. Baked potatoes keep warm in both an old ice chest and in the big chaffing dishes heated by sterno. On the potato bar we have a crockpot full of melted cheese and a crockpot full of beef and mushroom gravy, sour cream (and fake sour cream for those on a diet...lol), butter, chives, etc. The salad bar consists of a greens with shredded carrot and purple cabbage mix, followed by bacon bits, croutons, shredded cheese and a variety of salad dressings. For drinks we provide a variety of sodas, bottled water, iced tea and coffee. Dessert is usually one or two large sheet cakes donated by a nearby casino. For about $50, we provide a fun and filling lunch for a staff of 90 and it is served during 3 lunch periods by, who else? THE PTVO OF COURSE! last year we did a taco/burrito bar. The teachers and staffed loved it. It was really easy to put together, we offered ground beef and shredded chicken, both kept warm in crock pots. The chicken was gone first. We liked the menu, because there was nothing that could spoil quickly from being out on a table.

We have a good old BBQ for our staff on the Friday of Appreciaton Week. HUGE! Last year we gave away two patio planters that were also table decorations (just drew names out of a hat) We were ever lucky enough to have a beautiful day to have everything outside!
I like the American theme, we've done Italian, Mexican, pot luck, and another one I can't think of and it's the BBQ our staff requests! ;)

I remember...subway sandwiches!

That's great that your school honors them twice. It's awesome I think that they deserve that.
You could even do cheesecakes. I know that it's a hot month how about your mexican theme. Enchildas, rice and a big pot beans go a long way. You could even do a enchildas casserole. If you want the recipes let me know. I e-mail them to you. Plus you could go with Mexican because it's cinco-de-mayo and lots of decoration ideas are out at that time of the month. Ask your local grocery store for any kind of decorations they may decide to get rid of after that holiday. You need to catch them in April when they put them up so they can save them for you when they come down. I've asked grocery stores for valentines, country western, fall stuff they were more than happy to save them for me. Just ideas.

That's a great idea to do a patriotic theme. Our school does teacher appreciation in May and we still do this luncheon at the end of the year. I didn't do this committee last year but I don't think they have a big lunch during teacher appreciation week because of the year end one. Thanks for your ideas!

Do a good American Theme since everything seems to be revolving around patriotic. Do hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, or potatoe salad and make the
mini-cheese cakes with the vanilla wafers and put the pie fillings, blueberry and cherries. Do everything in red, white, blue, napkins, cups, table clothes. Just a thought. When does your school do the teacher appreciation week. It's kind of odd to have a teacher appreciation week then turn around and have this. Or maybe your school has it early in the year. Our is in April.
Maybe it tradition in your school for this event. You could do a root beer float or banana spilts.
