FUNDRAISING STORY

FUNDRAISING STORY was created by jmcv
I am a reporter for SmartMoney Magazine and I'm writing a story about public school fundraising. As I know all of you are all too aware, schools around the country are increasingly turning to parents to raise money and pay fees that go toward the most basic of public school needs--teachers salaries, textbooks, art and music programs--just to name a few. There has been a lot of media attention about the recent budget cuts, and a lot of local stories about what parents are doing to step in and fill in the gaps. As fundraising becomes increasingly sophisticated and significant, we're hoping to write a story that takes a close look at how parents are feeling about having to do all this fundraising--exhausted, overwhelmed, frustrated, burned out, etc. Even the most supportive of parents who want the best for their kids can start to wonder whatever happened to a "free" public education.

If you are frustrated by the repeated calls for donations or the increasing dependency on parents for public school dollars--or know someone who is--and would like to speak with me about this topic, please email me at the following address: This email address is being protected from spambots. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!
