Programs

Hi. First I would get with your Volunteer coordinator and get at least 2 volunteers. Maybe one could do the Programs, and the other would help with the Family fun nights. PTA has several programs free to you. Just visit their site. Madscience.org has science themes. Dont know their pricing, tho. That brings up another point. Find out how much money is in your budget for such things. Call your local zoo, museum, colleges, art enrichment programs and see what they have to offer. What about your library? Bring the library to the kids for puppet shows, etc!
By the way, our K-4 kids loved Karaoke night! Ask a car dealership to loan you their helium tank for balloons and your local burger joint (Sonic) to donate food. Walmart is also a big sponsor of ours!
Hope that helps,

My daughter will be starting kindergarten in the 2002-2003 school year. I have been nominated for the PTA Board in charge of Programs. I am very excited and am trying to get a jump start on planning for the upcoming year. In the past, this position has been responsible for bringing assembly type programs for the students during school hours as well as family nights and a beginning of the year ice cream social. I have been told that I will have alot of freedom in planning these events. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for me? Has anyone every held a Family Math or Science Night? Any ideas? How about other parental involvement events? Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.
