Positive Donation Responses

Barnes and Nobles keep a stash of goodies just for schools around here. I assume they do that everywhere else.

Also MacDonald's has "Be Our Guest" cards. We ended up with about 30 of those last year. They include anything from a free drink to a free sandwich. They were very generous about it.

I had a few emails asking me for an update on the companies that we have received donations for. The following companies can now be added to the list above. Keep in mind that I won't be able to find out about a lot of donations until our school opens back up in August and I can get the mail that is piling up.

Bigelow Tea
Busy Kids, Inc.
Gerber Legendary Blades
Petsmart

I am only posting the national companies and am not including the local businesses that are donating. I figure that would only help those of you here in the Portland, Oregon area. If you are then drop me an email. Thanks.

PTSOMOM,
we did our first auction last year for the carnival and although I think we did well, we used many local merchants who give very grudingly.
Please could you share the infor. that you have collected. I realize all the time and effort you have put in to get but if we can expand on it, maybe the list can grow.
Thanks,

I have several form letters that I merge with donation databases to create customized request letters. Most of them are created in MS Works but some are MS Word.

Some are from the carnival which earns money for the computer lab, some from when we raised money for the playground, and the most current auction letter I have is geared towards raising money for Textbooks, Instructional Assistants and our Read Well Reading Program. I am happy to share.

I had listed those companies who denied our request in another topic and had someone ask for a list of the positive responses.

I figured since that other topic was on its 3rd page I should create a new one for this new information.

I only sent my letter out about 3 weeks ago. So many more companies will be donating and I will update this list as they come in. It does help to know those companies that are responsive to helping with schools.

Be advised, that many of the companies we deal with only donate to us because we are a 501(c)3. So if your organization is not...you might be at a disadvantage.

The following companies have given us donations:

Albert Whitman & Company
Birthday Express
Circuit City Foundation
Cranium, Inc.
Dolce Skamania Lodge
Mt. Hood Meadows
Neurosmith, Inc.
Nikko America, Inc.
Playmobil USA Inc.
Creative Memories
Sunriver Resport
Taylormade Golf
Winco Foods

Always attempt to find out about the company's donation procedure policies. It will help you in obtaining an item for your auction. Also - always follow-up your letter with a phone call approx. 2 to 3 weeks after they were mailed or faxed.

Good luck!
