Need small-scale, fresh/creative fundraiser ideas

We love to offer Crazy Hat and hair days. The kids pay $1 (teachers can too) to get to wear their favorite hat and colored spiked hair. Our school also has a uniform so dress down days are an easy way to earn an instant $1000, we do have 1350 student body.
My favorite are the family night out with local resturants and chains. They all have "rules" and different agreements but for the most part you can earn a % of the total earnings for your night.

We used this company called KIDSTUFF, they have coupon books like entertainment books only for things you actually use! Seriously there are coupons for all the fast food places, alot of family friendly stuff. It's a no-obligation thing, you order so many books, either per family or student, they make all the copies for you. The books go home with the kids along with the forms. Books cost $25 and we made 12.50 per book. For every 5 books sold, the student earned a free one! KIDSTUFF does not charge for books that are not returned or are damaged. They pay all shipping, and ship in a week or less. Terrific item that sells itself, and no inventory!

I recently saw one of our local high schools doing a FREE car wash. They made money by asking people prior to the sale to sponsor them per car (like the charity walks...50 cents per mile etc)...then when the sale was over they went back to the people who promised a certain amount and got their money. You could keep track of the cars by either writing down the tag #'s or having the owners sign a sheet saying that they just had their car washed by so-and-so. Personally I prefer 60-100% profit fundraisers that don't involve overpriced plastic knic-knacs and tragically expensive giftwrap...but that's just me.

In June we used a sold dog treats as a fundraiser and raised over $5000. We had never heard of something like this before but it worked out great. I don't know where elase they may be sold but we bought them from a website called:
Fundraiser
