We once stated any child who sold over 50 items could be Principal for the Day (follow the Principal around, sit at her desk, pretend to make decisions). We had 6-8 kids win (previously the top sellers only sold around 35 items. The next year we raised the number of items to 75, and still had 5-6 kids. The parents reached whatever goal we set.
Another thing I've heard is for the principal to sing a song over morning announcements. I was thinking of writing something in rap about how great our school is, setting it to music and letting the Principal "rap" over morning announcements.
I also heard where a Principal shaved his head, or dyed his hair purple. Another principal worked on the roof of the school for a couple of hours and all kids were paraded by to see it.
For incentive rewards for our fundraiser last year, the fundraising company provided us with the grand prize, a new Nintento game cube. The top seller from each class was entered into a drawing to win it. The top three sellers in the whole school were awarded gift certificates (donated by PTO). Sellers who sold more than x-number of items got to "pie" the principal or a teacher. Various classroom teachers, a PE teacher and the janitor volunteered. The students lined up in front of who they wanted to hit. We used small paper plates with whipped cream on them for the "pies". Great fun! The roar from the kids in the gymnasium was deafening!
Need some ideas that other principals done to encourage students to participate in fundraising programs (and parents). Example: Top 10 students that sell the most get to SLIME principal. This is one we thought might be fun but would appreciate your ideas too!!
