Venzmama: Just curious - Men's night Out Basket sounds like a great idea but how did the school allow the cigar/scotch? I don't think that our school would allow items like that on school grounds... Please tell me more...

We auctioned ours as a silent auction. We let each classroom's homeroom parents figure out the theme and then collect money or items from their parents, we just made sure there was no duplicate themes. We had Kitchen Gadgets, Family Movie Night (dvd's, popcorn, candy), Family Games (board games), Sports (local sport team logo stuff), Americana (very popular), Kids Books, Cookbooks, LeapFrog, Gardening...

Hey Bluebird, How 'bout Tubby and the Cats!! We bleed blue in this part of the country too. ;)

ptomomof2-I have no idea how the actual auction will be done. Last year we had a couple of holiday baskets with our prize walk and charged $5. We did pretty well that way. From what I hear we will also be having the cake/prize walk.

We have theme baskets every year at our fall festival. It is one of our biggest money makers. We do it as a basket raffle - $1 per ticket or 6 for $5. Each theme basket has a bucket in front of it to place tickets in. So the buyer gets to put their chances in only the baskets that they want. At the end of the festival, we draw a ticket out of each bucket and announce the winner. Here are our basket themes for this year: Go Big Blue (spirit wear for our local university, high school, and elementary school), Family Fun Weekend, Camping Adventures, Crafts for All Ages, Spa Experience, Gardening Gala, Sports of All Sorts, and Couples Only. It is always a big hit on festival day. Good luck!

We do a silent auction with theme baskets every year in conjunction with our fall carnival and it is a big hit. This year our themes are: Boys'Toys, Girls' Stuff, Pamper Me, Men's Night Out, Build a Bear, Movies & Music, and Beach Day. Last year's "Men's Night Out" brought in the most and consisted of: small portable TV, Poker chips & cards, Cuban Cigars, Scotch, and Snack Foods.
