I'm intrigued by this idea, but wonder whether you have any problems with classes having "negative" amounts? If there are more quarters and dimes put in someone's jar than there are pennies, what happens?

We are doing the change wars right now. We are only doing 1 grade level at a time, starting in the 5th grade (K-5 school). The kids are super pumped up. The first day we received $42.00. The next two days were $92.00 each and today was $72.00. This averages out to be about $5.00 per child. We've been thrilled with the excitement the kids have and the teachers are having fun too. This is a very easy fundraiser and it's all 100% profit if you so desire. We are doing a pizza party for the highest class but we only expect that to cost about $25.00. I also highly recommend a change sorter that rolls your change. We got ours from Office Max for $30.00, works great!
Hope this helps!

We do a fundraiser which is dubbed a penny fundraiser but kinda varied.....we call it change wars

Each class get a jug for change. before school and halfway through school for 1 week the kids get to go put their change in the jugs. Pennies are the best change to get so kids will bomb you with pennies.......but dimes nickles and quarters are zappers, and count against the jug (depending on the face value)

So for example: a boy from Mrs. Logsdon's class puts 20 pennies in Mrs. Logsdon's jug and brings 2 quarters to Mrs. Tearman's class and puts it in her jug. 50 points is counted against Mrs. Tearmans jug.

So basically for your own class you want as much pennies as possible because the silver everyone else will put in will count against.

Hope this helps

Hi,
I have recently discovered this site and what a wealth of information it has been. I am looking for some ideas on a PENNY FUNDRAISER. WE will be purchasing a school sign and thought this would be a fun idea. Does anyone have any fun suggestions for this type of fundraiser?
Thanks
